BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES
She studied sculpture and graduated from the University of Chile in 1985. She continued her training by specializing, thanks to a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. She has created several large-format works placed in public places both in Chile and in Germany, among these there is “Homage to the Wind”, installed at the Panamericana Road, counted among the “500 Artworks Worth the Trip” (Phaidon, NewYork, NY 2018). In 2019 she was appointed a member of the Chilean Academy of Fine Arts. Since 2009 she has been living as a freelance artist in Berlin. At the center of Rudoff’s artistic investigation is the relationship between matter, time and change. Sculpture is not the freeze-frame of a moment, but the description of a process, which follows the laws of Nature observed from the human point of view. The artist develops a formal language that simultaneously expresses the plastic description of the moments and the long term, in the continuous search for a sort of “moment of Truth”.
ARTWORK IN CONTEST
GREENZIGNALE, 2004
SCULPTURE – Aluminium casting
cm 32 x 42 x 19
With the beautiful Grenzsignale fusion, Alejandra Ruddoff shows all the charm of the cyclical nature of time and its infinite flow, recurring themes in her artistic path “The artwork Grenzsignale focuses on the contemplation of the continuous displacement of space and time and the transience of the moment . It ́s form as an upright and open gesture suggests an infinite eternum, which represents the passage of time embodied in aluminium “.
