ARTWORK IN CONTEST

Underwater, 2024

PAINTING - Oil, acrylic, resin on aluminium sheet
68 x 52 x 4 cm

The light of aluminium seeps into the tangle of signs in Underwater by Sasho Blazes, a plate painting as a revealing source. The author’s allusion to underwater depths is rendered by a refined weaving of material and abstract signs. In this liminal context, between imagined and simulated reality, the intimate symbolic nature of the work is grasped.

AWARDS

SPECIAL MENTION OF THE JURY 2024

With the following motivation:

In the work of Macedonian artist Sasho Blazes, the light of aluminium leaks out, subtended and diffused, within an abstract and evocative tangle of chromatic signs that seem to allude to a naturalistic and aquatic world, to an imaginary underwater seabed. The result is a sense of emerging and symbolic expectation, of a revelatory source: intimate, inspired, mysterious and silent.
