THE CHANGING MEANING OF OUR JOURNEY
Solo exhibition of Alessandra Rovelli
Spazio COMEL Arte Contemporanea
From may 11 to may 26, 2024
Curated by Dafne Crocella
Spazio COMEL hosts the solo exhibition of Alessandra Rovelli, the winner of the Audience Award of the 10th edition of the COMEL Prize. In fact, Il senso mutevole del nostro andare (The changing sense of our going) is the title of the solo exhibition opening on Saturday, May 11, and also of the work most voted by visitors to The Aluminium eXperience exhibition held last October.
The work is part of the experimentation, started in 2016, that sees Alessandra Rovelli working on Life-Boxes, cardboard boxes on which she applies canvas and an endless number of other materials. Therefore, a painting becomes materic and is confronted with materials such as coal, ash, earth and not least aluminium.
The exhibition will feature an installation path depicting rarefied landscapes in which precise moments are immortalized. “The mutability to which the artist refers is given by the totality of his work: different moments of the day, different seasons, nature that changes and therefore transforms itself,” says Dafne Crocella, curator of the exhibition. “This is why the artist’s work is developed in compositions, where the individual pieces, as in a piece of music, form the melody, the proceeding. Thus, The exhibition invites contemplation and listening to individual perceptions so that artworks and observers can connect and communicate.
